July 8 - According to reports in the local US media, the multipurpose vessel Thorco Svendborg has become the first cargo ship to arrive at the new marine commerce terminal in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Thorco Shipping's 13,800 dwt general cargo vessel Thorco Svendborg was carrying a consignment of wind turbine components for a project in Plymouth, Massachusetts, say reports.

New Bedford's marine commerce terminal, which is being managed by Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (CEC), is allegedly intended for the handling of heavy loads, predominantly cargo related to the wind energy industry.

The 11.3 ha terminal construction project has taken two years to complete and cost around USD113 million.
