Höegh Autoliners and Pioneer Leasing have entered into an agreement to sell the ro-ro vessels Höegh Maputo and Höegh Singapore.

The 2011-built vessels have a cargo capacity of 4,900 ceu. They have been operated by Höegh Autoliners since time of delivery and have been on bareboat charter to the shipping line since 2014. A profit share agreement between Höegh Autoliners and Pioneer will give Höegh a financial gain of approximately USD19 million in aggregate upon completion of the sale in the third quarter of 2022.

A separate agreement with Chijin Shipping – the owner of Höegh Brasilia and Höegh Sydney – will see the shipping line extend its charter party agreements for the two vessels for two and three years respectively. Both vessels are built in 2007 and have a cargo capacity of 5,400 ceu. The vessels have been operated by Höegh Autoliners since delivery.

“The prolongation of this contract gives Höegh Autoliners the flexibility needed to serve customers in a tight supply/demand market,” said the company.

It added that the recently ordered Aurora newbuilds will be added to the fleet from 2024 and increase carrying capacity further.
