Ro-ro shipping line Höegh Autoliners has taken delivery of the Aurora-class vessel Höegh Moonlight.
Part of Höegh Autoliners’ largest and most environmentally friendly car carrier class currently in operation, Höegh Moonlight can carry up to 9,100 CEUs and is capable of handling breakbulk and heavy machinery.
Last month, Höegh Autoliners’ fifth Aurora-class vessel, Höegh Sunrise, departed China Merchants Heavy Industry’s yard, ready to begin commercial operations.
“Soon, we’ll have 12 of them in commercial operation,” said Höegh Autoliners, “reducing carbon emissions per car transported by up to 58 percent compared to the current industry average.”
In 2027, the first of the Aurora-class PCTCs will run on green ammonia.
