January 16 - Lifting Projects UK has been contracted by Farrans Construction to install a 100-tonne U Tube, designed to carry services from one side of the Liverpool Docks to the other, on behalf of Peel Ports.
Lifting Projects raised the 40 m long U Tube from its fabrication site and loaded it onto the floating crane Lara 1, which lifted and transported the unit down the docks for about 1 mile. On arrival, Lifting Projects helped lift the piece into its final position.
The equipment used by Lifting Projects during the lift also included two cranes supplied by John Sutch - a 250-tonne capacity Liebherr LTM 1250 crane and 160-tonne capacity LTM 1160 crane; as well as wires and specialist load cells.
