Qatar Airways Cargo has taken delivery of three Boeing 777 freighters to boost its cargo carrying capabilities.

The airline will introduce the freighters on its long-haul scheduled routes and also operate them on a charter basis.

The new additions bring Qatar Airways’ total freighter fleet to 30 aircraft, which consists of two Boeing 747 freighters, 24 Boeing 777 freighters, and four Airbus A330 freighters.

Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group chief executive, said the added capacity will enable the airline to support the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine.

“The B777F’s fuel efficiency, long range and high capacity will support our airline to be more sustainable and operate additional non-stop flights to further destinations around the world, facilitating the movement of time and temperature sensitive goods,” he added.
