November 6 - Van der Vlist have moved two Liebherr RL64 pipe-laying machines from Austria to the Netherlands for customisation, before transporting them to Wick, Scotland.
After being transported to Rotterdam, the cargo was driven onto a ferry and shipped to Killingholme, to start the 860 km journey to the north of the UK.
Each of the two machines, which weighed 40 tonnes and were 4 m wide, required semi low loaders on both inland journeys.
The two trucks and escort had to be particularly careful of their size when driving through Scotland because some of the roads became single carriageways and more difficult to traverse, says Van der Vlist.
