Built in early 2023 the diesel-electric Vertom Joy measures 128.26 m long and 18.7 m wide. It has a 110 m flush deck space and features an 80 m unobstructed box hold space. The open-top notation of the vessel allows for high and heavy cargo transport.

It is equipped with 80-tonne capacity cranes that can be combined to lift up to 150 tonnes. “This gives her the advantage of being able to load and unload almost any cargo in any port, regardless of the lifting facilities on the ground,” said Vertraco.

ECL – a Vertraco shipping company that operates between Northwest Europe and the north coast of South America – operates two shipping services. A reefer service connects Northwest Europe to Suriname and Guyana, with a ship departing every two weeks from Dover and Flushing to the harbours of Paramaribo and Georgetown, while another ship connects Dover to Guyana once a week.

The monthly South Caribbean service has fixed port calls in Antwerp, Hull, Gijón, Georgetown, Paramaribo, Point Lisas, Matanzas/Puerto Ordaz and Rotterdam. Cargoes  consists mainly of breakbulk, rolling stock, yachts, bulk goods (including rice and grain), and project cargo.
