AP Møller - Mærsk (APMM) will maintain its Damco freight forwarding entity as a separate business under its own brand as part of a reorganisation that will see the Danish giant combine its ocean and supply chain offerings.

It says that the move will allow Damco to focus fully on freight forwarding under new chief executive Saskia Groen In't Woud. She is currently chief operating officer at Damco.

Meanwhile, from January 1, 2019 Damco's supply chain services and Maersk Line's ocean product will be integrated and their respective value-added services combined and sold as Maersk products and services.

In addition, three of APMM’s regional carrier brands - MCC Transport, Sealand and Seago Line - will be marketed as "SeaLand - A Maersk Company" from October 1.

APMM chief executive Søren Skou commented: "This integration marks a big milestone on Maersk's current growth journey towards operating as one integrated company. We are in a strong position to deliver solutions that meet our customers end-to-end supply chain management needs, thereby tapping into markets covering the whole journey from producer to consumer by building on our business strengths."
