Grimaldi ups ro-ro frequency

May 8 - Grimaldi Group has added two vessels to its Savona-Valencia ro-ro service and now offers daily departures from each of the gateways.

The new vessels mobilised on the service are Eurocargo Cagliari and Eurocargo Alexandria, both of which measure 200 m long, have a 32,700 gross tonnage capacity, and are able to carry 4,000 linear metres of rolling cargo.

Furthermore, Grimaldi Group now offers four weekly departures from Livorno to Barcelona and three between Savona and Barcelona.

In Greece, Minoan Lines has been appointed the shipping line's commercial agent for ro-ro and car carrier services at the port of Piraeus. The move will enable Minoan Lines, a Grimaldi Group company, to extend its activities in Greece.

Grimaldi recently handled a vacuum excavator cleaning machine from Setubal in Portugal to Esbjerg on board the vessel Grande Scandinavia. The 22.4 m x 3.29 m unit weighed 71.4 tonnes and was secured to an 80 ft mafi trailer for transport. Upon arrival in Esbjerg the unit was lifted from the mafi trailer directly onto rails for oncarriage to Copenhagen.
