February 19 - Gulf Stream Marine has expanded into Louisiana, after being awarded a stevedoring license by the Port of Lake Charles.

Gulf Stream Marine expects to begin operations at the US port immediately, serving new and existing customers in support of petrochemical and LNG terminal expansion projects.

The stevedore and terminal operator, which specialises in breakbulk, heavy lift and project cargoes, says it intends to grow the economy in the region by hiring locally and investing in capacity expansion.

Gulf Stream Marine ceo Kevin Bourbonnais said that the company's capabilities - including its equipment, technology and terminal operations - will allow it to grow quickly in the Port of Lake Charles.

Gulf Stream Marine has existing operations in the Texas deepwater ports of Houston, Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Point Comfort and Freeport.
