Straightpoint expands in the UK

May 12 - Straightpoint has expanded its manufacturing facilities at its headquarters in Havant, Hampshire, UK.

An additional unit has been purchased at the Dakota Business Park and new machining equipment is currently being installed. Marcus MacDonald has been appointed as machine shop supervisor at the new unit.

MacDonald, who brings 30 years of relevant experience to the role, said: "We have consulted with Haas Automation [an American machine tool builder] and utilised the space available to provide the company with machining capability that will revolutionise the supply of non-standard and other Straightpoint equipment."

The building is adjacent to Straightpoint's existing units at the site and will be primarily used as a machine shop, where it will manufacture non-standard equipment.

Loadpins, compression load cells and shackles are likely to be among the first custom products to be machined in the new workshop, as the subsea, marine, offshore and other sectors look set to benefit from faster turnaround on orders, says Straightpoint.
