September 30 - Liebherr Maritime Cranes has delivered its first LHM 800 mobile harbour crane in a heavy lift configuration to the multipurpose terminal at Russia's Port Bronka.

After an eight-month production period, the LHM 800 was shipped to Russia onboard the open deck vessel Papenburg, which HLPFI understands is operated by Bremen based carrier Combi Lift.

To ensure that the crane could be rolled on and off the vessel easily, extra steel and wood had to be installed onboard Papenburg, as well as a bespoke ramp fitted. After a 1,300 km journey, the mobile harbour crane reached Port Bronka on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland.

The LHM 800 is designed for the handling of oversize and heavy lift cargo, and is equipped with a reinforced 64 m boom, with a total weight of 63 tonnes. Two winches and a four-rope configuration provide a maximum lifting capacity of 308 tonnes.

Liebherr added that the crane's total weight of 820 tonnes is evenly spread to the ground due to four double supporting pads, which have a total area of over 100 sq m. The crane is also designed to handle lifts of up to 616 tonnes in a tandem operation.

The very first LHM 800 model was delivered to Montecon in Uruguay in a container handling configuration.
