July 19 - Project Cargo Network (PCN) member representing Pakistan, Noble Shipping, has completed the delivery of a gas booster compressor (SGBC) system on behalf of engineering firm Descon, between the USA and Pakistan.

Originating in Houston, USA the 4,000 cu m shipment was made up of 18 units - the largest of which weighed 71.6 tonnes.

According to Capt. Mohammad Inam, managing director of Noble Shipping, difficulties arose when loading in Houston due to tight stowage beneath deck. Discharging in Karachi was also hindered due to technical problems experienced by the chartered vessel's on board cranes.

"Thank goodness that good planning and proper coordination with the vessel, trucking company, crane company and attending surveyors made it easy to accomplish the task without loss of time," said Inam.

The consignment was discharged at Karachi Port in less than 18 hours and the vessel was turned-around within the day. The system was then transported to the final project site in Northern Pakistan, approximately 1,500 km from the gateway.
