Alistair opens in DRC

April 13 - East African project logistics specialist Alistair Group has enhanced its coverage in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) with the establishment of a new office in Goma.

The office will enable the company to better serve its customers operating in the east of the DRC and the surrounding areas, including Uvira, Baraka, Kalemia, Namoya, Butembo, Beni, Kisangani, and Walkable. The facility, opened through Alistair Group's subsidiary company, Alistair Logistics DRC SARL, is positioned 300 m from the Rwanda-DRC border.

Meanwhile, Alistair Group informs that it is once again able to transport cargo safely through central Mozambique. Road transport in the region had been inadvised due to political unrest. However, with careful journey management and the use of military escorts when required, the company says it is now able to move safely through the region.

During March 2016, Alistair moved one of its RT9130 cranes approximately 2,000 km from Pemba to Temane. The trip took five days to complete and involved dismantling the machine and moving it on lowbed trailers. The consignment was escorted by a convoy of five trucks and two light vehicles, ten crew members and two military vehicles, before being reassembled in Temane.
