Demag gets design updates

May 19 - Terex Cranes has redesigned its 100-tonne capacity Demag AC 100-4L all terrain crane to improve lifting performance and expand standardisation across the Demag crane line.

The updated all terrain crane includes the Demag IC-1 Plus control system, which enables the crane to provide its maximum allowable lifting capacity, based on the slewing angle, for every crane configuration. According to Terex, the control system no longer limits the maximum lifting capacity to a pre-calculated 360 degrees load chart, which was based on the most unstable position of the crane.

The IC-1 Plus control system uses the full potential of the crane's lifting capacity, and also creates the opportunity to use less counterweight when compared to the 360 degrees lifting capacities, resulting in reduced transport costs, says Terex.

The four-axle AC 100-4L now incorporates many of the same design concepts as the Demag five-axle crane range, meaning there is more commonality between the all terrain cranes with regards to spare parts and components.

The AC 100-4L continues to measure 2.55 m in width, and feature a main boom length of 59.4 m with a total system length of 69.5 m.
