Expeditors predicts plummeting profits

July 14 - Expeditors International is forecasting a 33 0.000000all in profits through the company's second quarter of 2009, despite a slight upturn in traffic volumes.

CEO Peter Rose said earnings per share would be between USD0.24 and USD0.26, compared with USD0.32 for the same period last year.

"It goes without saying that 2009 has been an unusual year," he said. "While we did observe some quarter-end strength during June, volumes were still below what we experienced in 2008."

The official company statement did not provide any data on the immediate prospects for the company's activities in heavy and project freight forwarding, which is an important sector of Expeditors business.
