Hansa ups offshore expertise

January 21 - Hansa Heavy Lift has appointed Mark Preece as its new senior advisor to help the company grow its presence in the global offshore industry.

Preece joins the heavy lift shipping line with over 25 years of experience in the maritime and offshore industry, and currently serves as non-executive director at the UK's Port of Tyne.

He has also held managerial positions at Ceona Offshore, Reef Subsea, Acergy, Bibby Line, Technip and Stena Offshore.

As part of his new role, Preece will be concentrating on growing Hansa's expertise in the offshore industry, with a particular focus on transportation and installation in the subsea oil and gas market, as well as the offshore wind sector.

"The strengthening of our presence in the global offshore business will enable us to continue to meet increased demand from our customers from around the globe, and we are pleased to be working with Mark at the helm of this operation," said Hansa ceo Roger Iliffe.
