Western acquires Squamish Terminals

Western Stevedoring has acquired Squamish Terminals from Norway's Grieg Star.

"Grieg Star has been the owner of Squamish Terminals for almost half a century," said Rune Birkeland, Squamish Terminals chair. "Western Stevedoring has the right focus and expertise to further strengthen the terminal, and we are confident it is in the right hands going forward."

Squamish Terminals is a deepwater breakbulk terminal located 32 nautical miles north of the port of Vancouver. With 60 acres (24.3 ha), two berths and three warehouses, Squamish Terminals handles forestry products, steel and project cargoes.

"This acquisition strengthens Western Stevedoring's continued commitment to the breakbulk sector in British Columbia's Gateway and expands the service options currently provided to our customers with greater capacity for the coordination of efficient service and consolidation of cargo," said Western Stevedoring's president, Brad Eshleman.
