AsstrA in shield shipment

December 11 - AsstrA Heavy Lift has coordinated the transport of a tunnelling shield from France to Belarus for use in the construction of the Minsk Metro's third line.

The consignment comprised of 20 oversize units of equipment, each weighing between 30 and 60 tonnes and measuring over 4 m wide.

AsstrA used both its own trailers and sub-contracted equipment to deliver the cargo overland from France to Belaurs.

The company explained that the whole project took three months to complete, due to the long time required to obtain permits for the oversize cargo transport in France.

The scope of AsstrA's work included developing and planning the transport operations; organising all documentation; devising solutions for the loading, stowage and securing of the cargo; providing specialised machines for the loading and unloading of the cargo; as well as all Customs clearance.
