Buffers to distribute Cargotec's MacGregor and Allset brands

March 20 - Effective April 1, 2012, Cargotec has appointed Buffers USA Inc as the distributor for its MacGregor and Allset brands of ship lashing equipment for the US East and Gulf coasts, Canada and Mexico.

Established in 1989 to develop intermodal hardware for the North American market, Buffers USA teamed up withAllset Marine in 1991 and changed the US marine twistlock market from the manual type to the semi- automatic.

Today, Buffers USA, headquartered in Jacksonville, USA, handles over 6,300 part numbers and carries over 6.5 million parts at any given time in its four warehouses on the West, Gulf and East coasts of USA. The company also designs, manufactures and distributes products for the intermodal transportation industry including ship's lashing, cargo control for trucks and flatbeds, moisture control technology and many others. It operates through a dealer and distribution network in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America.

Marcus NäslundCargotec's business development manager mentioned the importance of customer service and product availability for Cargotec and how this, when combined with the product knowledge and global footprint of Buffers USA, would increase the service level to customers in the area.

John Hove, president of Buffers USA, stated: "The MacGregor brand with Cargotec behind it, continues to have the largest market share of lashing for new ships that will require top level aftermarket service from well stocked warehouses."
