Chapman Freeborn helps Kyrgyzstan refugees

July 21 - Chapman Freeborn Airchartering has delivered over 1,000 tonnes of aid cargo in support of the humanitarian efforts in Southern Kyrgyzstan.

Following rising tensions in the Central Asian country, an estimated 75,000 ethnic Uzbeks fled their homes and sought refuge in Uzbekistan.

The global aircraft charter specialist's UK and UAE teams coordinated a series of 30 flights to Kyrgyzstan and neighbouring Uzbekistan carrying relief and emergency supplies including blankets, high energy biscuits, medical supplies and relief vehicles, arranging the first relief flight less than 24 hours after the first contact with the aid agencies.

The urgent charters were completed over 12 days using IL-76 aircraft for flights into Andijan in East Uzbekistan and Osh in South Kyrgyzstan, from various airports in Europe, the Middle East and Pakistan.
