May 25 - DB Schenker is inviting applications for the DB Schenker award, a prize given out annually since 1978 to foster young scientific talent. It recognises scientific work in the fields of logistics, traffic and transportation.

Applicants can submit their dissertation, postdoctoral qualification or comparable academic work by July 31, 2012, for consideration for the 2012 DB Schenker Award.

DB Schenker says that papers on information systems, management systems or communications systems are also permissible, provided they have a particular reference to logistics.

The award comes with cash prizes of EUR10,000 (USD12,581) for the winner and EUR5,000 (USD6,290) for the supervising professor.

"In addition to high scientific standards, the board of trustees will also evaluate applications based on practical relevance, degree of innovation and benefit to the environment and society,"said Dr. Karl-Friedrich Rausch, member of the management board of DB Mobility Logistics AG responsible for transportation and logistics.
