DSV Projects Aberdeen secures first major oil and gas contract

May 4 - DSV Projects in Aberdeen has won its first major oil and gas contract after working closely with DSV Norway to secure the business.

The contract awarded by GE Oil and Gas involves the seafreight movement of cargo from the UK and Norway to Angola.

Most of the 4,500 tonnes of cargo, including subsea trees and spares, originates in Aberdeen and will be sent breakbulk and containerised via the ports of Luanda, Lobito and Soyo to the GE Oil and Gas (Vetco Gray) Kizomba Satellites Project. The project is currently underway and is due to be completed by the middle of 2011.

Steve Bingham, director projects, DSV UK said: "DSV currently runs quite a few contracts for the GE Group on a global basis but this is the first time that GE Oil and Gas has worked with the UK and Norwegian offices."

GE is a provider of technology equipment and services for all segments of the oil and gas industry, from drilling and production, liquefied natural gas (LNG), pipelines and storage to industrial power generation, refining and petrochemicals.

The DSV Projects group, a small but growing part of the worldwide DSV group, provides services including specialist abnormal or out of gauge knowledge and expertise for transport by road or sea, whether in the UK or overseas.
