December 18 - The South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA) has seen a 13 percent year-on-year rise in non-containerised cargo volumes in the period covering July - November 2015.
The Port of Charleston handled 69,966 tonnes of non-containerised cargo in November 2015, while the Port of Georgetown moved 28,172 tonnes.
Meanwhile, November container traffic drove a 7 percent increase in SCPA fiscal year-to-date volumes, with 831,627 teu handled since the fiscal year began in July 2015.
"The Port's November volumes reflect the sustained moderate growth we expected during FY2016," said SCPA president and ceo Jim Newsome. "Our broad-based increases will remain tempered in comparison to last year's double-digit growth, but I expect we will continue to keep pace with growth above the US port market average."
