The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and Antonov Company have agreed a three-year contract extension for the provision of airfreight support for the Strategic Airlift Interim Solution (SALIS) programme.

The agreement will see Antonov Airlines continue to provide two AN-124-100s on a constant basis to perform airlift missions in the interests of the SALIS programme. The contract extension runs until December 31, 2021.

Antonov has provided support for the programme since 2006. In April 2018, Antonov confirmed that would provide "the necessary number of AN-124-100 aircraft" to support strategic air transportation in the interest of NATO and EU nations, following Volga-Dnepr’s decision to cease providing heavy lift airfreight services under SALIS, as HLPFI reported here.
