BLG Logistics has started operations at its state-of-the-art logistics centre in Falkensee, Germany.

The facility offers a logistics area of 22,000 sq m, 1,100 sq m of outside storage space, and 1,300 sq m of office space and is used to supply logistics services to Siemens' gas turbine facility in Berlin-Moabit and its external location in Berlin-Siemensstadt with plant logistics services.

All materials and intermediate products from various suppliers will be gathered together in the new logistics centre, said BLG.

“We're responsible for picking of the components delivered, on-site transportation with our own trucks, and distribution of the materials to the installation locations in the Siemens plant,” explained Christian Dieckhöfer, managing director of BLG Industrielogistik.

He added: "Since April 2017, our team at the Falkensee location has already been handling inbound logistics for the gas turbine production location. So far, we've been using a consolidation centre in the plant itself for these activities.”
