“It is a natural part of our development in the energy and project sector to have our own set-up in Italy. The industry is large, and we see good opportunities to strengthen our services to our current clients and also to expand the client base,” said Thomas Bek, global director for Blue Water’s energy and project division.

The Denmark-headquartered company has also employed Alessandro Crocitto – who has more than 34 years of experience in the logistics industry, including 21 years working in the project logistics field – to join the Italian branch.

He said: “Blue Water has a strong global track record when it comes to energy and projects. I am confident that we can develop positively in Italy, as the market demands experienced logistics partner to these types of transport.”

The opening of the Milan office is, according to Bek, in line with Blue Water’s strategy to expand its activities in the energy and projects sector and follows recent successes in this area, including the execution of the USD1.3 billion Tengizchevroil future growth project as well as winning the project logistics provider of the year award at the inaugural Heavy Lift Awards during October 2019.
