October 2 - Blue Water Shipping, as port agent, is assisting with the Port of Brest's upgrade project to prepare the French port for renewable energy components.
For the project, which will see the construction of a 400,000 sq m area and a heavy load quay for the large components used in the offshore renewable energy industry, Blue Water Shipping has acted as port agent for several coasters arriving in Brest with sheet piles.
In total, the region will be investing around EUR220 million (USD258 million) in the project, which is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
"This upgrade will hopefully attract large players from the offshore industry," says Marianne Girardin, marine and renewables manager at Blue Water Brest.
