Wallenius-SOL, the recently formed joint venture between Wallenius and Swedish Orient Line (SOL), has contracted CIMC for the construction of four LNG-powered ro-ro vessels.

As HLPFI reported here, Wallenius-SOL plans to service the northern European market with five ro-ro ships. The four vessels on order with CIMC will be delivered from 2021 and will replace existing tonnage.

Knud E. Hansen (KEH) developed the vessel concept; each will measure 241.7 m in length, 35.2 m wide, with a top speed of 20 knots.

The ships will also meet Finnish-Swedish Ice Class 1A Super requirements.
