January 8 - NorSea Group subsidiary Danbor has established a Wind Centre of Excellence, which will be headed up by newly-appointed managing director Morten Basse.

Basse joined the company on January 1, having previously served as ceo of Offshoreenergy.dk.

"Over the years Danbor has supported the wind energy sector with logistics and port services, maintenance and repair," said Danbor ceo Jørn Bue Madsen. "As part of our growth strategy, we have established a new division, Wind Centre of Excellence, which will focus on developing the support and services to the wind market.

"Reaching our growth target within this business area requires strategic acquisitions, focus on customers and growth opportunities, and last but not least efforts to attract employees with the right competencies."

He added that the EU's joint research centre has forecast that the market for offshore wind in the North Sea will grow from 9 GW today to 112 GW in 2030 - a tenfold increase in 15 years. The new centre is intended to help Danbor expand its position in this growing market.

The company also acquired Danish wind power company ØER in October 2015, which it said will strengthen its expertise and capacity within the wind energy market and allow the group to deliver services along the entire supply chain.
