Dubai-headquartered DP World has reaffirmed its intention to invest in new port and logistics infrastructure in Kazakhstan, following the signing of two framework agreements relating to special economic zones (SEZ) in Aktau and Khorgos.

DP World Group Chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem with Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Askar Mamin in Astana.

DP World has been providing management services to the port of Aktau, as well as to Khorgos SEZ and Inland Container Terminal (ICD).

Strategically located on the border with China, Khorgos is a primary transit point for trans-Eurasian cargo trains.

DP World said both facilities “play an important role in enhancing trade connectivity along the New Silk Route and have further actively promoted business connectivity between Kazakhstan and Dubai”.
