Gebrüder Weiss has opened a division in Thailand as the firm looks to reaffirm its presence in Southeast Asia.
“The new country organisation allows us to close a strategic gap and create direct connections to central Asia-Pacific markets for our customers,” said Lothar Thoma, managing director air and sea at Gebrüder Weiss. “Thailand is an important export location with strong trade links to the USA, China, Japan, Australia, and Singapore – markets where we are also represented with locations of our own.”
2024 saw Thailand post export volumes worth around USD300 billion, a 5 percent increase on the previous year. Industrial products make up the majority of outbound trade, at 86 percent.
A team of 20 employees will be based in Bangkok, providing international air and sea freight transportation, Customs handling, and national and cross-border land transport services. The company is looking to expand its services to include warehouse logistics, too.
In October 2024, HLPFI reported that Gebrüder Weiss had expanded its logistics centre in Tbilisi, Georgia.
