Belgium-headquartered logistics firm Gosselin has acquired 100 percent of the shares in compatriot transport and warehousing company Delcatrans Group.
Gosselin said the deal would bolster its footprint in Belgium’s West Flanders as well as Northern France. Gosselin currently has an office in Rumbeke, West Flanders, and it believes that this paired with its local market knowledge will help the firm to continue growing in the region.
With this expansion, Gosselin intends to maximise multimodality by significantly expanding its use of inland waterway transport via the inland container terminal River Terminal Wielsbeke (RTW), and rail transport via Rekkem.
Delcatrans has a fleet of 110 trucks and 200 chassis, plus 15,000 sq m of warehousing capacity. It offers transport links connectinf the Kortrijk-Lille-Tournai-Paris region with the seaports, primarily.
“By integrating Delcatrans into our one-stop logistics concept, we are not only strengthening our offering alongside our inland terminals… but we are also expanding our presence in West Flanders and, by extension, Northern France,” explained Marc Smet and Dirk Vanhoutteghem, owners of Gosselin Group.
Over the coming months, Delcatrans will be fully integrated into the Gosselin Group.
