Bremen-headquartered project forwarder Hansa Meyer Global Transport has secured a project with SMS group to ship equipment for a state-of-the-art aluminium flat rolling mill in the USA.
Hansa Meyer Global will handle approximately 55,000 freight tons of cargo from worldwide suppliers, with cargoes originating in Europe, Türkiye, South Korea, India, Vietnam and Mexico.
The deliveries cover the hot strip mill, two tandem cold mills, a single-stand cold rolling mill, and two high-bay storage systems.
The project includes 26 heavy lift units, from 50 tonnes up to 187 tonnes, which will be shipped in several part shipments from Europe and South Korea up to the port of New Orleans, where Hansa Meyer RoliProjects will take over for delivery to the project site in Columbus.
Hansa Meyer Global said that the operations have started immediately.
