German shipping firms Harren Group and NSB Group are pooling their ship management and crewing expertise through Albireo, a new joint-venture manning agent in Manila, aimed at strengthening support for seafarers.
Developed with local partners in Manila, Albireo offers professional and dedicated career development for seafarers and crewing services for shipowners of all vessel types. The Manila-based team currently manages around 800 seafarers, who are deployed across roughly 90 vessels worldwide.

Albireo offers support to shipowners through clear processes, efficient crew deployment and stable manning. Seafarers will gain tailored support and long-term career development opportunities.
“Seafarers, our colleagues on board, are key to global logistics and the success of our customers,” said Nils Aden, managing director of Harren Group. “Albireo provides a clear framework for our crewing activities in the Philippines, ensuring reliable manning and consistent service delivery for shipowners.”
The office will be led by captain Vicente Dayo as general manager and president, alongside captain Thaddeus Bonghanoy, operations manager and chairman.
Bonghanoy added: “Our mission is to provide seafarers with reliable support throughout their careers while giving shipowners confidence through consistent quality, clear processes, and stable manning.”
HLPFI reported in November that Harren is restructuring its heavy lift and multipurpose shipping operations.
