May 31 - Konecranes has received a major order from Siemens Wind Power & Renewables in Germany for 18 industrial cranes and one gantry crane, which will be put to use at the manufacturer's wind turbine production facility in Cuxhaven.
The cranes, which range in lifting capacity from 20 to 500 tonnes, are scheduled for delivery during the summer of 2017.
The equipment will be used for assembly work at Siemens' new facility in Cuxhaven, which HLPFI reported on in August 2015.
Siemens is investing around EUR200 million (USD223 million) to build the German facility, which will produce nacelles for the company's next-generation offshore wind turbines. Production of the first components will begin in mid 2017.
