DHL Global Forwarding has launched myDHLi – an integrated online platform for its freight forwarding customers

DHL championed the system’s simplicity and its ability to provide real-time shipment management including quoting, booking, emissions and tracking. All data can be accessed on a desktop computer or via smartphone, and shipment information can be easily shared among interested parties.

myDHLi users can create a bespoke interface by selecting the specific services they want and the system is available to all DHL Global Forwarding customers free of charge. DHL said that it is suitable for companies of any size, and that the current crisis had encouraged more of its customers to seek online booking services and spot rate quotations. said the company.

The platform is based on the CargoWise transport management system. Chief executive of DHL Global Forwarding, Tim Scharwath, said that the launch of myDHLi closes the chapter on the NFE IT system, which was abandoned in 2015.

He added: “By combining services like online quotation and booking with shipment tracking, document accessibility, and data analyses we are creating not only 360-degrees visibility, but also have laid the foundation for customers to manage their logistics – anytime and anywhere.

“We strongly believe that digitalisation bears the potential to ease and improve the daily business of shippers and freight forwarders simultaneously. This is even truer during unpredictable and challenging times such as those we are currently facing with Covid-19, and which might now act as an accelerator for digitising the industry. That is what digitalisation means to us and why we made it a cornerstone of our strategy 2025."

The launch begins with a pilot phase including selected customers from five continents (North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa). It is being rolled out in waves to ensure a smooth region-by-region transition. myDHLi will eventually be implemented across the DHL Freight division – three countries are testing the system currently and four more should have access this year.

The system does have some limitations with regard to the size and weight of cargoes that can receive instantaneous quotes. However, exceptional shipment quotes can be placed on the platform and DHL Global Forwarding will contact the customer with further options.
