September 23 - Mohamed Ebrahim Al Qassimi is the new ceo of Abu Dhabi-based Maximus Air.

Following his appointment, Al Qassimi said that the air cargo specialist carrier is experiencing strong growth.

During Al Qassimi's previous career, he helped to establish Air Arabia and worked as an advisor to GE Aviation's top management.

In his new role he will be responsible for expanding the airline's reach into new markets and says that opportunities include the increasing demand for VIP air cargo, as well as a new freight forwarding business that the airline is creating that will capitalise on the strong logistics industry in UAE, as well as looking at growth markets in Europe and Africa.

Operating across the UAE's main airports since 2005, Maximus Air specialises in moving outsized and specialist air cargo including the transportation of dangerous goods, live animals, VIPs, rapid response and humanitarian flights. The Maximus Air fleet includes an Antonov AN-124 capable of carrying 120 tonnes, which it can load and offload independently using onboard systems.
