July 11 - DB Schenker has been appointed exclusive international transport and logistics services provider for the world sailing championships in Perth, Australia later this year.

For the world championships, starting on December 3, 2011, DB Schenker's arm DB Schenkersportsevents is to move hundreds of yachts from all around the world into Perth for the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) 2011 event.

Perth 2011 is the main qualifier for the sailing events at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Schenker Australia Pty Ltd has a long-standing history in the transportation of sailing boats and other sports equipment; last year, DB Schenker handled the Perth Regatta. The group has a dedicated and highly specialised team to manage logistics for major sporting events, including the Olympics, World Cups, Commonwealth games and Asian games.

Meanwhile, DB Schenker Logistics is now represented in Belarus with its own company rather than a representative office. The new subsidiary in Belarus has locations in Minsk and at Minsk Airport, and connects Belarus with the DB Schenker global network.

The new company offers a full range of logistics services, including the import and export of part and full-load freight shipments bound to and from Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan, and air and ocean freight services that handle all customs formalities.

"The new national company will enable us to strengthen our network in Eastern Europe," says Karl Nutzinger, member of the management board of Schenker AG and responsible for land transportation. "We expect that the recently formed customs union between Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan will provide stimulus for additional growth."
