Effective August 1, Joachim Hanssen has been promoted to ceo, Asia Pacific (APAC) and will oversee China, Central Asia and Türkiye as part of his scope of work. Rhenus said that Hansen, who has been with the company for more than two decades, will help unify and scale its APAC operations.

With more than a decade at Rhenus, Alberto Martinez will assume the role of ceo, Europe (EU), effective October 1. Presently serving as vice president global ocean freight, Martinez has led the development of Rhenus’ global ocean freight strategy, expanded trade lanes, and built strong carrier partnerships. He will succeed Markus Lingohr, who will retire in 2026.

Effective September 25, Renee Toh will join Rhenus, filling the role left by Martinez. She brings more than 20 years of global experience in ocean freight and trade management. She was most recently head of global ocean procurement at Ceva Logistics.

“These leadership appointments reflect our long-term vision to build a more agile, integrated, and customer-focused organisation,” said Jan Harnisch, member of the board – air and ocean. “By placing experienced leaders in strategically critical roles, we are reinforcing our ability to respond to market shifts, deepen customer relationships, and unlock new opportunities across regions.”

Last month, Rhenus took over the management of the ports of Salaise-Sablons and Portes-Lès-Valence, in France.
