Netherlands-based Roll Group has established a joint venture with Saudi Arabia-based FTE Heavylift.

The Roll Group and FTE Heavylift divisions will integrate and operate as one company in Saudi Arabia under the ROLL FTE brand, with a focus on heavy transport, installation, and marine works.

ROLL FTE’s head office will be in Dammam with operational yards in Jubail, Dammam, Jeddah and Rabigh. The company will also have the relevant transport licenses to execute transportation by road. Roll Group’s global standards in safety and engineering will be implemented into the joint venture, the companies said.

ROLL FTE’s large fleet of conventional hydraulic axles, SPMTs, mobile cranes and various installation equipment will be based in the country. The joint venture also plans on investing in marine assets that will be registered and based in Saudi Arabia to accommodate the growing number of projects in country requiring combined marine and land transportation solutions.

The joint venture agreement was signed by Roll Group ceo Peter Rondhuis, and FTE Heavylift ceo Fawaz Al Shammari.

Nimalan Logeswaran, regional sales director for Roll Group MEA said: “The integration of FTE Heavylift is a key step forward for Roll Group in the Middle East region. FTE has a strong local presence and is held in high regard with both local and international clients. Their commitment to ensuring the highest safety standards in their operation correspondences to Roll Group’s global values and standards which ensures a seamless integration. By consolidating our equipment and expertise, we can offer our clients tremendous value with optimised solutions for their heavy lift requirements. Roll FTE will own both marine and land based assets in country thereby providing a one stop shop for our client’s needs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
