The office in Cairo is part of SGL’s strategic focus to enhance its foothold in the MENAT region (Middle East, North Africa, Türkiye), where it is already present with footholds in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Türkiye.

General manager Ahmed Habib, who brings over 20 years of experience in the logistics industry, including roles at Damco, Maersk and FedEx, will lead this expansion. “Establishing direct operations in Egypt allows us to maintain full control over local operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality service,” he said.

SGL is positive on the outlook for the Egyptian market, valuing the country’s logistics and warehousing sector at EGP110 billion (USD2.3 billion) in 2023, with projections indicating strong growth through 2029. It pointed out that consistent economic growth is supported by government-led initiatives that focus on infrastructure improvements, regulatory reforms, and trade facilitation.

Last month, HLPFI reported that SGL will expand in India across several locations.
