Australian crane specialist RAR Group has deployed a Grove GMK6400 at the Capital Wind Farm in New South Wales for the replacement of turbine gearboxes.

The 400-tonne capacity crane has a 60 m-main boom and a luffing jib that can be extended to up to 79 m, giving it a maximum tip height of 136 m. For the Capital Wind Farm project, RAR Group configured the crane with a main boom length of 49 m and 43 m-luffing jib, together with the Mega Wing Lift attachment for additional capacity.

In this configuration, the GMK6400 was used to replace 24-tonne gearboxes at a height of 85 m.
