December 15 - Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers sold more than USD63 million of heavy equipment and trucks at its Edmonton, Alberta auction that took place December 11-12. 2014.

It was the 6,000th auction in Ritchie Bros' history and the company marked the occasion by selling more and 4,700 individual lots over the two-day event.

Almost 6,200 bidders from 53 countries registered to bid in person or online for the auction. Equipment was sold for more than 600 sellers, including dump trucks, gravel trailers and a wheel loader for McPhee Construction - an Alberta-based contractor specialising in road maintenance for the oil patch. "We recently ordered some new equipment so we came to Ritchie Bros. to sell our surplus gear," said Pat McPhee, president, McPhee Construction.

Commenting on a strong 2014 for the auction house in Edmonton, Jim Rotlisberger, regional sales manager, Ritchie Bros. said: "This was our largest year ever in Edmonton. We sold more than 32,500 equipment items over six auctions for CAD569+ million (USD491.03 million)."

Looking to the future and the changing face of the oil industry, Rotlisberger added: "We continue to carefully watch the impact of lower oil prices on many of our customers and look forward to assisting them in their future equipment dispersal needs."
