April 25 - SeaRenergy Offshore has successfully positioned the HVDC offshore substation BorWin beta on behalf of Siemens, approximately 125 km off the German coast and northwest of the island of Borkum.

SeaRenergy Offshore towed the platform from Eemshaven to the construction site in 24 hours. The positioning over the subsea structure required extremely precise coordination due to the proximity to the already installed transformer platform BorWin alpha. Eight tugs were required to move the 12,000-tonne topside into position before it was hydraulically lifted into place 22 m above sea level, explained SeaRenergy.

BorWin beta will be connected to the wind farms Veja Mate and Global Tech 1, which will generate a combined power of up to 800 megawatts (MW).
