October 10 - A thousand tonne consignment of oil field equipment has been moved from Dubai to Iraq almost two weeks ahead of deadline.

Globalink Logistics Group, a member of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC), undertook the movement of oil field equipment from Sharjah, UAE, to Basra, Iraq with an expedited contract at short notice.

The consignment, which weighed around 1,000 tonnes, was loaded with shore cranes at Sharjah port, UAE onto a chartered vessel which sailed to Umm Qasr port, Iraq. After unloading at Umm Qasr, the cargo was moved 72 km inland to its final destination.

The movement was handled with such speed that it arrived at Basra 10 days ahead of deadline, says a WWPC spokesman.
