Mammoet lifts in Louisiana

November 2 - Earlier this year, Mammoet utilised its PTC 200 DS, the largest crane in its fleet, to lift a 350 ft (106.7 m) long, 1,600 tonne wash tower for the Lotte Chemical's Ethylene Glycol project in Louisiana, USA.

The head section of the wash tower was hoisted out of the saddle with the PTC 200 DS, while the rear section was simultaneously lifted out of the saddle by 60 axle-lines of self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT) with a tail frame.

Once the wash tower was fully erected, the vessel travelled 442 ft (135 m) to its foundation.

With this lift complete, Mammoet says the crane will be reconfigured to add another 220 ft (67 m). This will bring the total reach of the PTC to 713 ft (217 m) which, according to Mammoet, will allow the crane to remain in its current location while still being able to reach modules located further away.
