Networks attend sustainability summit

Representatives of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC), Cargo Equipment Experts (CEE) and Priority Cargo Network attended the seventh Sustainable Ocean Summit in Paris during November.

The event is organised by the World Ocean Council (WOC), which the three networks joined earlier this year, as HLPFI reported here.

WWPC, Priority Cargo Network and CEE director, Wolfgang Karau, said: "Shippers, carriers and other participants in the logistics and transport [industry] can contribute to a clean environment. This process has already started and will need to continue to embrace new technologies and initiatives. The WOC plays an important role in bringing awareness and stimulating the cooperation of all parties towards a cleaner future."

This year’s summit brought together more than 350 participants. Paul Holthus, founding president and ceo of WOC, said: “This is the first time that a secretary of state, from the host country, speaks during one of the conferences. This is, to my mind, a sign that the dialogue we have established over the last ten years is becoming stronger and credible, and that our transversal approach has a real impact on the preservation of our environment.”

The theme of this year’s event – investing in ocean futures: finance and innovation for the blue economy – intensified the dialogue for the sustainable development of the oceans, added the association.
