Japan’s Nippon Express was on hand to relocate a 50 m-high crane from a barge to its final resting site on a quayside in Japan by means of Cometto SPMTs.

The port crane and its supporting structure weighed 400 tonnes. The conditions for unloading were particularly challenging, thanks to high winds and rough sea. The Cometto MSPE, which features electronic steering system, was able to keep the cargo in position; while 700 mm stroke of the self-propelled axles allowed for millimetre precision during final positioning.

Renewable energy projects are also gathering momentum in Japan and Nippon Express has been busy using Cometto trailers to navigate mountainous terrain.

A BladeMAX is being used to overcome final-mile challenges when it comes to blade deliveries. The system allows for rotor blades to be picked up, swivelled and raised to navigate tight turns and obstacles en route.
