September 23 - Ruslan International has delivered a Rolls-Royce engine from the UK to southwest France onboard one of its AN-124 freighter aircraft.

The new Trent XWB-97 engine, which was manufactured at Rolls-Royce's Derby facility, was flown from East Midlands airport to the Airbus testing facility in Toulouse onboard the AN-124.

Ruslan explained that the job was particularly urgent due to the tight production schedules involved, while the engine also needed to be transported over the road at Toulouse airport during restricted times.

The Trent XWB-97 move was a significant one for Rolls-Royce, due to the fact that the engine is the first of its kind that will actually take flight on an Airbus A380 flying test bed, added Ruslan.
